Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is a rare but serious illness caused by certain bacteria, especially Staphylococcus aureus, which produce toxins. If these enter the body in large quantities, the immune system can react very violently. This can lead to severe symptoms within a short time, such as high fever, circulatory problems, or flu-like symptoms. In rare cases, the illness can also be life-threatening.1

TSS: Which symptoms should you know?
